Leila Davis lives and works in Brisbane, Meanjin, on Turrbul and Yagera country.
It’s a beautiful, sub-tropical city on the East coast of Australia.
As a doctor and psychotherapist she honed the skills of connecting with others beyond words, using movement, art and music. She brings this desire for connection and presence to her ceramics, speaking to the observer through form and colour.
Growing up she was surrounded by Arabic paintings, and her style is deeply influenced by her Iraqi heritage and the artistry of her Middle Eastern Mother.
She worked and travelled widely, living in England and France before returning home to Australia where her ceramic training was with the Brisbane Institute of Art.
Her work springs from a calm, centred place within and it recreates this stillness when it inhabits a room.
She shows her work regularly in Australia and you can find it for sale at Hillsdon Grocer
